The second running of the M1 Asia Challenge proved to be a huge success with 10 new companies taking part in the event for the first time. Worsley E&G ran out overall winners after holding off stiff competition on every stage from Leighton Malaysia and Standard Chartered. Last year's winners BG recovered well after a poor start to finish fourth and claim the final position at the World Team Challenge in Cyprus. Bintan and Nirwana Gardens proved an excellent host venue with high quality food and accommodation and a fantastic beach front setting for the post event party and prize giving. Making the most of Bintan spectacular beach front setting and extensive reservoir enabled us to make a challenging and interesting course the highlights being Stage 1 a kayaking stage on the Lagoi Reservoir and Stage 3 a night orienteering and mountain biking stage around Bintan Lagoon golf course. The construction Stage 4 was probably the most picturesque stage ever to appear in an Intelligent Sport® event taking place early in the morning on the white sandy beach at Nirwana Gardens. Stage 5 and the run for home was as popular as ever among the teams bringing together all the possible physical and mental disciplines that make up an Intelligent Sport® event including a special task involving Jet skis and dune buggies! The 2009 Asia Challenge – Singapore is scheduled to take place from the 23rd-25th April 2009 with an early booking discount rate on offer for those teams who sign up before the end of July 2008.
